The Book of Isaiah Chapter by Chapter

Discover different layers of meaning of Isaiah's prophecy

Bring to light the prophecy of Isaiah, one of the most complex yet important books through all scripture, and the foundation for so many scriptures.

About this course

This class walks through Isaiah chapter by chapter, treating the prophet not as a distant voice from the eighth century BC but as a living witness whose words speak directly to our day. Isaiah is the most quoted prophet in the Book of Mormon, and the Savior Himself commanded us to "search these things diligently." This class takes that command seriously.

Each session combines careful Hebrew word study, historical and cultural context, and typological reading that connects Isaiah's prophecies to the New Testament, the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the unfolding events of the last days. We explore the layers of meaning embedded in the Hebrew text, including wordplay, parallelism, and chiastic structures that often disappear in English translation. We trace recurring patterns such as Babylon as a trans-historical system of pride and apostasy, the gathering of two Zions, and the tripartite antagonist framework of Satan, Babylon, and the Antichrist.

Class members come away with practical tools for reading Isaiah on their own. You will learn how to spot Hebrew idioms, recognize covenant language, identify shadow types of Christ, and connect Isaiah's prophecies to restoration scripture. Whether you have read Isaiah many times or have always found it intimidating, this class is designed to open the book in fresh and meaningful ways.

The goal is simple. Make Isaiah accessible, faithful to the text, anchored in restored doctrine, and relevant to the times we are living in.
