At Search Diligently, our goal has always been to create a scripture study tool that is both simple and powerful. With it, you can take your study to the next level—searching words and phrases across the scriptures to see how different prophets and writers shed light on the same truths. As you connect these verses together, you begin to receive “here a little and there a little” (2 Nephi 28:30), until the patterns form a beautiful tapestry of understanding.
That said, many tools over the years have tried to offer advanced scripture search. However, they often come with drawbacks such as mixing the scriptures with other libraries, charging extra membership fees, lacking robust search features, or using designs that are not user-friendly.
Because of this, the desire was born to provide a scripture study tool that will combine what feels to be missing in the marketplace, a free, open source, advanced search engine, and an easy-to-use tool that will empower people to learn from themselves without theological frameworks and biased content.
After extensive testing and refinement, we launched the first version of the Search Diligently tool at SearchDiligently.net.
Search Diligently was built with the true seeker of the scriptures in mind. Our tool is designed to help you uncover patterns, connections, and insights that may otherwise remain hidden by regular reading. Why to do Word Links
One of the most powerful features of Search Diligently is the ability to do word searches. A word search lets you look up any word or phrase across the entire body of scripture in seconds. This matters because patterns in scripture often appear “here a little and there a little” (2 Nephi 28:30). By seeing how a single word or phrase is used by different prophets and in different books, you begin to notice connections, repeated themes, and deeper meanings that are easy to miss when reading straight through. Word searches allow the scriptures to interpret themselves, giving you a clearer, richer understanding of God’s word.
By connecting words across different verses—what we call word links—you begin to see truth from multiple angles, almost like a 360-degree view. Scripture reminds us that “truth is knowledge of things as they are, and as they were, and as they are to come” (D&C 93:24). With Search Diligently Tool, you can instantly search for any word or phrase across the scriptures. Unlike most search tools, ours recognizes when the same word appears multiple times in a single verse—even if they are separated by a comma. This means you can uncover patterns that traditional tools often miss.
You can also refine your study by searching for two or more words that must appear together in the same verse. For example, you could search for “faith” and “works” to instantly find the verses where both ideas are taught side by side. This feature makes it easy to study relationships between principles and to see how different truths connect within the same passage.
